The FY2012 Choice grant focuses on the redevelopment of the isolated and distressed 246-unit Wheatley Courts public housing site into a 412-home, mixed-income neighborhood called East Meadows. Built in three phases, the new community is walkable, sustainable, and inter-genera􀆟onal and has improved connections to the broader neighborhood. The community includes 332 homes for families in one-to-four-bedroom garden apartments and townhouses and 80 one- and two-bedroom homes in a universally designed building for seniors. At the heart of the community is a two-acre park with both passive and active space for all residents of the neighborhood. A mixed-use building on Walters Avenue houses a BiblioTech, an all-digital public library that works to bridge literacy and technology gaps in low-income communities.

The Dignowity Park Project is a $5 million project improving a 9-acre public park in the Eastside Promise Zone, a diverse, bilingual area in San Antonio, TX that was selected as one of five areas in President Obama’s initiative to provide enhanced access to federal support intended to revitalize high-poverty communities by creating jobs, increasing economic activity, and improving educational opportunity, reducing crime, and growing leadership capacity."The" additions to the parks include a new playground, a fenced dog park, walkways, more lighting and power infrastructure, a splash pad and restroom facilities.

The Villas at Echo East consists of two new ground-up, wood framed, four story, multifamily apartment buildings. Building 1 is 119,000 gross sq. 􀅌. with 100 rentable units and associated clubhouse and admin space. Building 2 is 105,000 gross sq. 􀅌. with 92 rentable units. The siding of the buildings are fiber cement boards, and the roofing is a mixture of TPO and shingles. The site includes 302 spaces available for surface parking, hardscapes and landscapes for residences, and shallow pool. The site also includes a deten􀆟on pond.

The 78,402-square-foot Wheatley Park Senior Living residence is phase 3 of the Wheatley Development and is in San Antonio, Texas. The 80-unit, garden-style senior living community consists of 52 one-bedroom, 22 two-bedroom, and 6 three-bedroom apartments. Wheatley Park Senior Living, a fun and active community, includes amenities such as a library with a theatre, a billiards room, a community room and dining room, and laundry rooms on each floor. Cadence McShane along with Straight Line Management added on-site parking and recreation areas, sidewalks, fencing and landscaping. Also added on-site were the parking control gates, trash enclosures and irrigation system.
